I've had countless instances of convenience shopping and grabbing the cleverly placed "offers" whilst passing by a store.
Being caught out on travels and hitting up a fast food store in a roadside services.
Rushing between appointments or the kids clubs and making the family's meal choice based on whats the quickest and most available to put together.
We all fall foul of it sometimes. One of the most frequent queries from clients is how to improve in this situation.
It can be easy to think you struggle with eating healthily, but most of us have been taught what healthy eating looks like, life just sometimes gets in the way.
So I'm going to pass on my opinion on The number 1 problem with healthy eating, and how to fix it. The most frequent problem I see so many people having with nutrition, and one of the primary methods we use to overcome it on our programs at Total Rebuild.
The Problem - Mindlessness!
Without trying to get all deep and zen, we sometimes just don't spare a thought.
I firmly believe that most people know deep down what a healthy meal should be made up of, but forget or are in a rush, and succumb to something they know they could have made a better choice over.
Portion control can easily go out of the window when hunger strikes, and skipping meals can become a nasty habit, leading to further bad choices and binge eating.
The Fix - Think More!
Be mindful about what you choose to eat. Give yourself a moment to evaluate choices.
1. Make the time to look at your diary and identify these 2 things for the week ahead;
Preparing food in advance can be as easy as cooking a little extra of each meal and refrigerating or freezing until needed.
2. Be consistent
3. Make a plan
Eating well doesn't have to be difficult, but it is individual. Everyones needs are slightly different and discovering your best diet is a personal journey, but you don't have to make it alone.
At Total Rebuild we offer plenty of support with nutrition and lifestyle transformation, as well as fitness. We have seminars, programs and services all geared toward helping you create a better body for life, not just the beach season.
Supporting you with constant feedback to change your habits over food choices, making it second nature, rather than simply chucking a meal plan at you and expecting you to get on with it!
